Dairy Products Can Weaken Bones

Millions of American women are creating and exacerbating bone loss by consuming dairy products for the purpose of doing the opposite.  This information flies in the face of the Dairy Industry advertising campaign that promotes the consumption of dairy products to help build strong bones. http://www.gotmilk.com/#/benefits/bones/info/

Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Professor Emeritus of Cornell University, demonstrates in his book “The China Study” a direct connection between animal protein intake and the incidence of bone fracture due to osteoporosis.  Countries with the highest consumption of animal protein (including milk) have the highest rate of fracture.  Campbell shows that women with the highest levels of animal protein consumption had 3.7 times more bone fractures than the women with the lowest levels of animal protein consumption.

The digestion of animal protein causes the body to become acidic.  In an effort to neutralize this acidity, the body extracts calcium out of the bones to use as a buffer.  The rampant misconception that consumption of dairy products will support bone health is actually exacerbating the problem.  http://www.freedomyou.com/nutrition_book/Milk%20and%20Cookies.htm

Eliminating animal protein from the diet and consuming a plant-based, whole-foods diet will provide substantially better bone health than consuming milk, dairy, etc.  A cultural paradox.
